In 1999, I started to chisel away at a Silky Oak stump, with the vision of creating a statue of 21 Australian animals! including all mighty Kangaroo, Koala, Emu and eggs, Dingo, Possums, Echidna, wombat...

The Silky on Walkabout

After making an appearance at the Sydney Olympics, Silky was part of the Bicentennial celebrations in 2001, helped save the Mary River from being damned and 

stayed at Australia Zoo for a while and toured SE Queensland, then retired to the Wood Works Museum in Gympie for 15 years

Silky has come out of retirement to..........

I/We pay my/our respects to the Elders past, present and emerging. I/we celebrate the stories, culture and traditions of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Island Elders of all communities who also live and work on this land
