About

Introducing Keith Gall renown 'Chainsaw Wood Artist' champion. Keith started wood carving in the late 1999, using chainsaws and chisels, 6 months later Keith transformed a Silky Oak tree stump into 21 Aussie Animals and on its way to the Sydney Olympics 2000.

The Silky also took part in the Bicentennial celebrations in 200, then stayed at Australia Zoo, toured SE Queensland, helped save the Mary River from being dammed, and semi-retired at the Wood Works Museum in Gympie for 15 years.

Silky on the road

On the road again

Here's where Silky turns some heads, came out of retirement and restored to former glory!

In 2023, Keith launched the 'The Silky Project'! This amazing organization is dedicated to supporting his adventurous quest to bring Silky to life as a stunning life-size bronze statue!

The Silky has 21 Australian Animals carved into a silky oak stump created with chisels and a chainsaw

Vision

Building the replica will take some time, with the support of the community, business partners and donations from individuals, The Men's Shed Tin Can Bay, where Silky is being crafted and the Sleepy Lagoon Hotel with all their support and fundraising, Silky is well under way.

To head to the 2032 Olympic Games, then go on tour again throughout the region
